Maintenance Engineer
Salary: £14.50 - £15 BASIC / hour (plus £1.97 per hour for hours 6pm-7am and £5.50 an hour from 11am to 6am). Hours are 6-2/1-10 and occasional nights 11-6.

Location: South Chard
Our client, based in South Somerset, produces fabric for film and theatre, bridal wear, military, parachute, radar reflective, among other applications.
Due to ongoing expansion within their engineering department, they are looking to recruit a maintenance engineer.
The successful candidate will be primarily involved in carrying out mechanical maintenance on large production machines as well as responding to and repairing mechanical breakdowns. The maintenance engineer must use their problem-solving skills to help troubleshoot issues to prevent re-occurrence. Once trained, the maintenance engineer will be involved in conducting planned ongoing refurbishments to production machinery.
Duties Include:
1. Carry out checks and thermal inspections on production machinery.
2. Carry out TPM and respond to reactive maintenance requirements.
3. Work efficiently to ensure all works are completed in a safe manner and to Health and Safety regulations.
4. Conduct relevant repairs or improvements and carry out preventative maintenance on equipment.
5. Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns and other engineering problems.
6. Accurately complete all engineering documentation required.
7. Manufacture spare parts (simple brackets, guards, and fixtures) using lathes or milling.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. Excellent communication skills.
2. Good eye for detail.
3. Ability to maintain performance and work effectively under pressure.
4. Good knowledge of mechanical/maintenance engineering.
5. Welding certificate (ideal but not essential).
6. A self-starter who enjoys the challenges presented by complex machinery.
7. Bright and technically sound individual with a commercial outlook.
8. Enthusiastic and clear thinking.
9. Embraces change and continuously looks for ways to make improvements.
