We are looking for a department leader to join our dual purpose outpatient and medical day case unit at Berwick Infirmary.
We hold multiple clinics of varied specialties Monday to Friday and excellent communication skills are required when working with multiple teams.
Our medical day case unit provides treatment locally for patients requiring drug infusions, venesection, and blood transfusion, etc. We work hard to ensure that patients can have their treatments locally, bringing in new treatments with the support of specialist teams. This is a unique post as staff cover both OPD and medical day case areas with a huge variety of treatments and development of a unique skill set.
This is an exciting time to join our team as we prepare to move into our new hospital with the development of additional services and treatments.
The post holder will ensure safe, efficient, and holistic care for patients attending clinics for multiple specialties and assess, plan, and evaluate care in our nurse-led medical day case unit.
Main duties of the job
1. Manage the treatment and care of patients who attend our nurse-led medical day case unit, liaising with specialty teams to provide safe and efficient care.
2. Responsible for the daily running of the outpatient department, ensuring safe staffing levels and supporting staff on a daily basis.
3. Work closely with multiple teams, providing education and support to the local team to allow us to provide safe care in a rural location.
4. Provide the highest standards of clinical practice and act as a role model to others.
5. Adapt to the changing environment and support the team via QI projects and service development.
6. Control workload and manage duties by identifying networks of support for yourself and other employees.
7. Delegate to members of the team.
