About us
At Colchester City Council, we’re embarking on a journey to transform how we deliver recycling and waste services to our business customers. The team has ambitious plans to grow the business, providing an improved service to customers and to contribute to increasing recycling rates across the City area.
The team is expanding to meet these goals and the requirements of the Environment Act 2021. A new crew is being recruited to collect recycling waste streams as part of this enhanced service.

We are seeking a motivated and flexible Team Leader Driver who is also adaptable to the needs of our service, with a willingness to be a team player and assist with Loader responsibilities when the need arises.
You will provide specialist driving provision in relation to Heavy Goods Refuse Collection Vehicles, while also ensuring that all required vehicle checks are completed in line with current legislation and that all Health and Safety requirements are always met and complied with.
You will oversee and manage the professional standards and performance of your crew whilst out on route, in particular ensuring that all recycling and refuse is collected, containers are returned to designated pick points, that they do not obstruct pedestrians or other vehicles, and that waste or debris is cleared.
As a strong leader you will set an example to your crew and engender a positive working environment to provide a high level of customer service to our businesses. You will also be comfortable completing documentation, both written and on an electronic device, and using technology to ensure that an effective service is delivered.
