At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions. This position will be a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Operations Manager will lead and develop multi-skilled Production & the Production Scheduling teams on a daily basis. To continually improve overall processes and support the business achieving its strategic improvement plans, whilst ensuring the team has robust processes and methods in place to ensure manufacturing order expected completion dates are maintained and are aligned within our ERP system, while fostering an environment that aligns with the company values, strategy and culture. Core Responsibilities The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate true leadership in engaging people and leading from the front and will need energy and enthusiasm to build a business culture that can sustain continuous improvement. Co-ordination and control of the entire manufacturing process, working closely and in conjunction with other departments such as Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and Health & Safety to ensure continued delivery of the manufacturing plan to produce high quality products in a safe manner to the required levels of operational performance. Lead and support the Production Teams Leaders to prioritise daily work whilst constantly striving to increase productivity. Support, monitor and drive improvement initiatives through the daily WIP walks and Scrums to ensure optimised teamwork and performance. Lead, support and drive improvements to support production scheduling in determining the manpower needed to cover production demand in conjunction with the Production Team Leaders. Working closely with the Planning Manager to ensure all resource groups are working in line with Epicor. Lead the data collation and analysis required to maintain the current operational metrics with an aim to improve, realign and introduce new operations metrics as the business matures. Manage, monitor and further develop the use of ERP systems to allow for improvements on production schedules and lead times to better match customers’ expectations in on time deliveries. Support the business in immediate and longer term projects and initiatives to increase manufacturing efficiency and delivery performance. Create a highly trained, flexible and engaged team who are fully aware of their responsibilities and the importance of their contribution for Health & Safety, Quality, Financial Performance, Housekeeping etc, and ensure that two-way communication is maximised at all times. To ensure that the company’s vision, values, behaviours and procedures are adhered to at all times. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Skills The ability to motivate and empower people to perform the manufacturing process with excellence to produce a quality product. In depth business acumen principles with proven track record and expertise. Proven leadership skills in a growth and change based manufacturing environment. Strong technical background in Engineering to understand and evaluate the requirements and capabilities associated with the production line. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop clear and detailed plans. Extensive experience in liaising with customers in various formats including the organising and chairing of face to face customer meetings. Proven ability to build relationships, to drive results through internal partnerships and to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. The ability to respond to change, with Strong multi-tasking skills and willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines. Self-motivated with proven experience in problem solving, project management and decision-making skills. Experience in people management with the ability to be able to handle all levels of employee relations matters. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing. Education Higher education, ideally degree qualified or equivalent in an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline, or a combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation.
