Location: Dependant on operational requirements Reports To: Nursery Manager As a Senior Early Years Educator, you will be responsible for leading a room or unit within your nursery setting. Qualified to at least Level 3 in Childcare with a proven track record, you will inspire, lead and motivate whilst drawing on your in-depth knowledge and early years’ experience to successfully deliver all aspects of our service, including planning and facilitating purposeful learning opportunities, meeting each child’s individual needs through close monitoring and observations and ensuring our high standards are maintained in all areas of your setting, closely following Cherubs Nurseries Policies and Procedures. You will also have the opportunity to be responsible for a Designated Role such as SENDCO and access a pathway of continuous professional and personal development to support your career goals and progression with Cherubs Nurseries. From time to time, you may also be required to work as part of the nursery management team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery, including being a responsible and reliable key holder. Description of Duties Deliver: Deliver an amazing service, for both our children and families Work as part of the Childcare Team to provide an amazing service, for both our children and families. Ensure the children’s environment and your nursery is kept safe, secure and clean at all times ensuring safeguarding policies are adhered to. Be a role model for the children at all times, whilst demonstrating best practice to your colleagues. Ensure all toys, equipment and furniture is kept clean and in good working order, steralising toys when necessary or required by policy. Assist in the supervision of meal times, ensuring this remains a learning opportunity for the children where positive eating practices are learnt and developed. Give parents and carers a warm welcome and concise handover at the end of the day. Ensure you are up to date and compliant with all Cherubs Nurseries policies and procedures. Take Ownership: Take ownership in everything, always being honest and transparent Assist in providing a safe environment by being aware at all times of the dangers and the appropriate preventative measures. Implement systems of observation and record keeping of assessments. Accurately complete Cherubs Nurseries paperwork in accordance with the company guidelines and setting guidelines. Ensure all company confidentiality procedures are adhered to, at all times. Deploy staff and students within the room effectively, ensuring all children are being properly observed. Deploy staff and students in the whole nursery as staffing levels require, to ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations at all times. Ensure an effective routine/rota is in operation for the cleaning of equipment within their room and winder nursery. Ensure appropriate stock levels of First Aid and Janitorial materials, within the room. Present yourself in a professional manner at all times, always “dressed for service”. Comply with Cherubs Nurseries policies and procedures at all times. Oversee of the setting, ensuring it is effectively run, in line with Cherubs Nurseries policy and procedure should the Assistant Nursery Manager and Nursery Manager both be absent. Commit: Commit to continuous improvement, always strive to be and do the best Present yourself in a professional manner at all times, always “dressed for service”. Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times both inside and outside of the workplace. Attend both in-house and external training, as required. Some of this may be outside of working hours, for example on a weekend. Attend monthly Senior Early Years Educator meetings, which may be out of hours. Complete all PLA training that is relevant to your role, ensuring this is completed within 7-days of issue. Ensure nursery displays and notice boards a current, updated and relevant, finished to a high standard, ensuring the children’s work is displayed positively – this includes a key person board in each room. Monitor and ensure that all children’s Blossom is up to date and that all key people within the room are completing the required workload correctly. Build: Build a positive and progressive team environment where everyone is united and able to shine Work under the general direction of the Assistant Nursery Manager and Nursery Manager. Establish a friendly, respectful relationship with all Cherubs Nurseries staff and suppliers. Help new staff settle in and make a contribution to their performance, including the completion of their Apprenticeship Training Pack (where necessary). Liaise with other members of staff to ensure the smooth transition of children from one room to the next. Communicate regularly and effectively with the Assistant Nursery Manager and Nursery Manager. Be aware of all the staff in post of Designated Person, possibly undertaking one yourself. Attend all staff events including parents evening, staff meetings and summer fairs, some of these may be out of hours and on weekends. Mentor your team and always demonstrate best practice, ensuring that your team learn and develop because of your outstanding practice. Your Qualifications and Experience Educated to GCSE Level (or equivalent) Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent) 2 years’ experience post Level 3 qualification Experience of leading a room or unit within an early year’s environment Experience of Safeguarding and/or SENDCo and/or Language Lead
