Applicants should meet the following criteria:
1. Degree in Pharmacy M Pharm or B Pharm or BSc. (Pharmacy) on the General Pharmaceutical Council register as a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician whose name appears on the General Pharmaceutical Council Pharmacy Technicians register.
2. At least 2 years UK hospital experience within a hospital pharmacy department. Experience of managing a team & mentoring. Experience of managing a budget.
3. Strong organisational and planning skills, including risk management. Results driven, possessing a proven track record of delivering against targets.
4. Strong interpersonal skills.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with a range of people at differing levels across the hospital, deploying a range of techniques to do this effectively
6. Knowledge of General Pharmaceutical Council Codes of Professional Conduct, Ethics and Performance and their implications for practice.
7. Knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Care and Quality Commission Requirements
Duties of this role include:
8. Responsible for the optimal and safe use of medicines to all patients receiving SACT medication
9. Ensure that all prescribing is on the CHG electronic software
10. Request new protocols in a timely manner
11. To influence and promote evidence based medicine and nationally published best practice for this patient group
12. Provide expert advice to support the management, prescribing, clinical use and procurement of medication prescribed & administered within an oncology facility
13. Motivate and inspire pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to adopt ownership of responsibility for medicine management services within an oncology facility.
14. Member of the Hospital multidisciplinary oncology team
15. Support the development and local implementation of corporate & hospital prescribing guidelines, and new oncology policies
16. Provide an educational resource for the hospital to staff and patients with respect to medicines prescribed and administered in oncology facilities
