Aquatic Control Engineering (ACE) Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Apprentice Engineering Operative to join the busy Operations team and to complete the Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Assembly of ACE products ready for shipment/installation, liaising with the project engineers and ACE team; ensuring all assemblies are completed to the highest possible standard
* Quality control of parts prior to assembling
* Using both hand and power tools on a daily basis
* Operating stud welding and plastic welding equipment
* Reading engineering drawings (digital & paper) and instructions to plan and execute tasks daily
* Following company Health and Safety rules and monitoring any potential hazards, reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses
* Working to safe systems of work within the warehouse at all times
* Physical work including assisting the Operations team with loading and unloading of site vehicles, preparing for installation works (heavy duty lifting work)
* Keeping the warehouse and work area safe, clean and tidy at all times
* Future assistance with site installation works (including working away)

* Must have a full UK clean driving licence or working towards gaining this with travel abilities to and from ACE HQ

* Reading, interpreting and understanding the component or assembly specification, diagrams, drawings and work instructions.
* Planning component or assembly task – materials, tools and equipment.
* Preparing work area for component or assembly task; sourcing required resources, tools and equipment.
* Carry out relevant planning and preparation activities before commencing work activity and know how to source required resources and interpret detailed drawings, specifications and job instructions.
* Checking tools during and after task completion; identifying and reporting defects.
* Measuring and testing, checking or inspecting component or assembly for example; use of micrometers, verniers, multimeters, voltmeter.
* Problem solving; analysing the issue and fixing the issue where appropriate.
* Applying improvement techniques; recommending or implementing solutions where appropriate.
* Communicating with colleagues or customers (internal or external).
* Completing component or assembly documentation for example job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation.
* Reporting work outcomes or issues.
* Restoring the work area on completion of the activity; returning any resources and consumables to the appropriate location and house-keeping.

Your training plan
The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Engineering Fitter Level 3.
The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course. This is a Day Release programme which means you will attend Lincoln College, 1 day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.
