Job overview
Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an additional Part-Time Consultant in Orthodontics. The appointee will be an addition to the team of 2 Consultants (both part-time), 1 post CCST in Orthodontics, 1 Clinical Assistant and 2 part-time Orthodontic Therapists. The service is provided on one site, Montagu Hospital in Mexborough.
Main duties of the job
* Provide safe, evidence-based orthodontic services.
* Maintain and improve standards and quality of all aspects of the service.
* Supervision and training of junior staff.
* Maintain skills and up-to-date knowledge base, meeting the Continuing Education and Professional Development requirements of the General Dental Council.
* Actively participate in the Audit programme of the Department.
* Take Lead roles in-turn with other Consultant staff to manage the department’s teaching, audit, clinical governance and other responsibilities.
* Be prepared to work on all 3 Trust sites - Doncaster, Montagu and Bassetlaw Hospital if required.
* Attend all departmental meetings.
* Share in the emergency cover with other consultants in the department.

Qualifications
* FDS Orth or equivalent
* You must be on the specialist register for Orthodontics or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK. In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of Doctors must be eligible to be on the GDC specialist register (evidence required prior to commencement) to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee.
* Applicants must continue to hold a Licence to Practise.
Experience and Achievements
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Orthodontics.
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the specialty.
* Understanding current issues within Orthodontics and the future direction of the specialty.
* Understanding current issues within the wider NHS.
* Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions.
* Wide based experience in Orthodontics.
* Attendance at a recognised management course.
Teaching and training
* Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and other healthcare professionals.
* Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications.
* Training in clinical and educational supervision.
* Attendance at a teaching course.
* Formal qualification in teaching/education.
Audit and Research
* Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects and the implementation of outcomes.
