Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for an NDT Operator Level 1.
* Full Time Permanent Contract
* 42 hours per week average – working 24/7 days/nights shift pattern
* Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
* Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
Non-destructive testing of aircraft components using methods such as penetrate flaw detection, hardness, conductivity to customer specifications. This involves the interpretation and operation of test methods & calibration of equipment in order to achieve accurate results to certify the parts. Failure to do so may result in defected parts entering service which may cause disruption and lead to cost to the business, and aircraft failure.

Essential Responsibilities
Safety
* Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
* Ensure a safe working environment & practices are maintained and compliance to site HSE standards
* Follow risk assessments, COSHH assessments, manual handling assessments and CAR reports
* Responsible for completing all accident investigations and approving appropriate actions.
* Perform visual inspection of work area to obtain a 6S score daily and ensure the work area is maintained to 6S standards
* To complete pre-use checks of all equipment to ensure that it is safe and fit to use, including daily RPE checks to ensure that all breathing equipment
* To check that all airlines are in good condition and not showing signs of fatigue.
Quality
* Visual inspection for defects such as but not limited to damage, corrosion
* Visually inspect parts against engineering drawings
* Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated before use
* Carry out daily process confirmation checks
* Responsible for completing and documenting daily checks of all operators RPE
* Participate in both internal and external audits of the NDT process
* Verify parts are correct to the job card and processed following customer specifications
* Responsible for identifying any failures with parts, completion of NCR forms and escalating to the Line Manager for rectification work
* Ensure that processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard
Cost
* To complete the relevant PPM’s and scheduled maintenance tasks such as changing filters
Delivery
* Operate Crane
* Chemically clean and etch components
* Jig components
* Operate manual semi-auto and automated chemical process lines and ovens
* Apply penetrants and wash off
* The operator will be responsible for schedule, deliver and record data
* The job has responsibility for cross checking that all of the prior operations have been completed prior to commencing this operation

Position Requirements
Essential Criteria:
* Minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English.
* Good verbal and written communication (passed numeracy & literacy exam)
* Excellent vision requirements (passed vision exam)
Desirable Criteria:
* SAP or MRP experience
* Crane licence
