Position: College Manager
The Scottish College seeks to appoint a part-time College Manager. The Manager will provide operational support and administrative leadership to our educational charity, which provides church-based adult and community education and training throughout Scotland, as well as professional training for those preparing to be Church Ministers or already in service. Working directly with the Principal and a small team of colleagues, volunteer officers, and honorary tutors, this is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic person to use their administrative skills in a dynamic educational environment.
The College will shortly assume responsibility for administering a Moodle-based learning platform, and the post-holder will already be comfortable with basic management of learning environments of this type or be willing to develop those skills.
Responsibilities:
* The Manager will be a key member of the team with responsibility for event planning and delivery, and for supporting learning.
* Develop and maintain the College’s administrative systems.
* Be responsible for external and internal communications.
* Support the effective running of the organisation.
The post is based at the College office, located conveniently beside Central Station in Glasgow. The organisation is prepared to consider mutually-convenient working patterns, including hybrid working.
Requirements:
* Experience working with or supporting children and young people and some knowledge of the education system.
* Due to the spread of geographical locations across Glasgow/surrounding areas, a driving licence/car is preferable.
Salary is £21,840 with 20 days holiday plus 11 days public holiday. You will have access to a company laptop and mobile phone. A generous travel expenses policy is in place. Principal Accountabilities:
* The delivery and management of an allocated number of Learning Hubs.
* Provide advice, support, and resources to volunteer tutors and Senior Pupils.
* Liaise with schools and other partners to identify and serve pupil needs.
* Matching and pairing volunteer tutors with referred pupils, online or face-to-face.
* Support the Volunteer Engagement and Training Coordinator in the recruitment and training of volunteer tutors and Senior Pupils.
* Initiate, monitor, and respond to progress reports and other ongoing service supervision.
* Order/create and monitor resources as required.
* Relationship management and development of key stakeholders as relevant for the effective delivery of VTO services.
* Any other duties as directed by the Senior Learning Communities Coordinator.
Person Specification:
* Experience of working with children and young people.
* Knowledge of the education system, support agencies, and safeguarding.
* Aware of issues affecting children who struggle at school and their families.
* Sensitive approach and ability to communicate on all levels.
* Willingness to work flexible hours.
* Ability to set own work plan and work on own initiative.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Driving licence/car access is preferable.

The successful candidate will help change the lives of young people facing poverty by engaging them in a year-long programme of non-formal learning in a youth work setting. The role is incredibly rewarding but also particularly challenging, as professional boundaries and responsibilities need to be balanced skilfully within compassionate, positive relationships. Candidates with demonstrable experience of this in a role supporting vulnerable groups will be at an advantage.
The Youth Development Worker will play a strong role in planning and delivering engaging youth work sessions across programmes, and for ensuring young people are engaged across our organisation.
The post holder will act as a critical relationship builder, supporting our Academy Programme Lead as needed by linking in with families and referral partners, including schools.
