Job Details
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
The role requires flexibility of hours, as it may include occasional early mornings and evening work (to be agreed in advance), during busy periods.
This full-time post is available from May 2025 on a fixed term basis until May 2026.
Summary of the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Student Employability and Academic Success (SEAS), as a Data Officer.
The post holder will plan, organise and deliver meaningful data and support to faculties and Career Zone staff. They will have operational responsibility for the delivery of research/data projects. This role would be expected to act as a flexible member of a wider team, offering support and assistance across all frontline services in order to best evaluate programme delivery.
Ensuring that the HESA Graduate Outcomes survey is run efficiently, with the correct details and with the highest possible chance of success for the University of Exeter is a key responsibility too.
About You
We are seeking a proactive, highly motivated and extremely organised individual, with a 'can-do' attitude to join our close-knit team. Your experience will ensure you have the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines under pressure and manage multiple tasks - switching between them as required with ease, whilst maintaining accuracy. You will be committed to providing exceptional customer service at all times, even during busy periods.
You will have excellent data analysis skills, liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders such as external agencies, alumni, students and staff, to facilitate the successful delivery of projects and will develop strong working relationships with colleagues. You will use Excel, Outlook, Teams and Sharepoint daily and will be able to quickly assimilate an understanding of the systems we use, such as our careers platform ‘Handshake’ and Power BI. Excellent IT skills are therefore essential.
The post holder will actively seek to contribute to team discussions, help find solutions to challenges and make suggestions for improvements. You will be confident making decisions and working independently but will be a team player, working collaboratively with colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a Higher Education setting. Familiarity delivering data projects would be advantageous but full training will be given. The post holder will undertake some supervision of student staff and support our wider team of student staff, so previous experience of this would be desirable.
