What You'll Do As an Area Project Lead, you will be responsible for establishing and managing a team to deliver all projects within the annual Billable Works programme in your geographical area. You will ensure financial targets are met, cash collection is managed effectively, and project delivery aligns with agreed margins. Working closely with key stakeholders, including DIO and TLBs, you will utilize asset condition data to develop future billable works programmes while fostering a strong safety-first culture. Supporting the Billable Works Manager, you will contribute to developing governance procedures that ensure safe and profitable project execution. You will oversee supply chain management, act as an escalation point for queries, and implement processes that maintain consistency across the contract. Ensuring compliance with legislative and JSP standards, you will also identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions in accordance with JSP 850. A key part of this role involves stakeholder engagement, including producing progress reports and maintaining clear communication throughout project lifecycles. You will ensure all projects have formal briefs, specifications, procurement plans, and tender documents while managing adherence to build programmes. Compliance with health and safety regulations, including CDM and Asbestos Control, will be a priority. Customer engagement will be a fundamental aspect of your role, as you support the Billable Works Manager in delivering solutions aligned with customer needs. Understanding the operational requirements of establishments within the Service Delivery Area (SDA), you will serve as the main point of contact for project delivery, working closely with the DIO Programmer. You will also be responsible for drafting Statements of Need (SONs) to support sustainment and maintenance requirements. From a technical perspective, you will oversee the service delivery of all Billable Works over £25k, ensuring compliance with statutory and MoD mandatory requirements. You will assess projects for DIO inclusion in CIDP, manage Early Warning Notifications and Risk Reduction Meetings, and ensure all projects are successfully handed over for ongoing maintenance. Leading a team of Project Managers, you will support their development and ensure efficient project execution. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, you will promote a culture of service excellence. Responsibilities will also include team induction, mentoring, and overseeing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and the PDR process. Commercially, you will ensure adherence to contractual responsibilities, internal quality procedures, and financial management. You will oversee SDA area budgets, monitor supply chain performance, and maintain commercial control to achieve planned milestone payments and ensure cost-effective project delivery. What You'll Bring To be successful in this role, you must have an HNC or equivalent qualification in Building, Civil Engineering, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, along with Project Management (Prince/APL) certification. You should possess technical training to maintain competence, familiarity with sites and assets in your area, and an IOSH qualification. A full UK driving license is required. Desirable qualifications include Chartered Membership of the Institute of Building, Incorporated Engineer status, NEBOSH General Certificate, SMSTS certification, familiarity with MoD IT applications, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Associate Membership of the Institute of Leadership & Management.
