An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate journalist to join the award-winning editorial team at The Scottish Farmer, the world’s longest-running agricultural publication, established in 1893.
We are looking for an experienced writer and/or communicator to join our business team. Knowledge of the farming industry is important, and successful candidates will have the opportunity to grow and develop in this role.
The core responsibilities include covering Scotland’s livestock sales, agricultural shows, and interviewing family farms for feature articles. This role will take the successful candidate across Scotland to report on all aspects of the livestock sector. A genuine interest and willingness to engage with the cattle and sheep industry is essential.
In today’s digital-first landscape, time management is crucial. The ideal candidate must balance daily digital news output with our weekly print schedule, while also contributing to a busy social media calendar to promote The Scottish Farmer’s activities.
Strong business and news judgment is essential, as is the ability to meet strict deadlines. With farming playing a pivotal role in combating climate change, this position offers the chance to keep our readers informed about the innovative steps the industry is taking to meet these challenges across both digital and print platforms.
The successful applicant will be expected to report from events across Scotland and develop a deep understanding of the pedigree and livestock sector.
The Scottish Farmer is continually investing in growth, with a strong focus on expanding our digital presence and increasing audience reach.
