We have an excellent career opportunity for a JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION to join a well establish independent construction business BASED IN Birmingham undertaking steel frame type builds and groundworks / civils projects country wide.
Starting salary is entirely dependent on the skills and experience you present at interview however we anticipate something in the region of £28,000 to £32,000 plus allowances and overtime. Core hours are 8am to 5pm, Mon to Fri.
As a JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION you will be working directly for an experience Project manager supporting them in key areas of their job while at the same time expanding your own skill set and working towards full Project Management responsibility in the future.
Your duties as a JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION will include but are not limited to:
* Chasing and assessing subcontractor quotations and tenders
* Liaising with subcontract and specialist trades
* Managing the supply chain including plant hire, materials & consumables
* Undertaking regular site visits and associated reporting to the Project Manager
* Assessing site progress against project plan & budget
* Monioring quality and accuracy of works on site
* Double checking necessary documentation is in place and correctly completed
* Promoting site wide health & safety & compliance with established procedures
* Implementing corrective actions or remedial measures on site if necessary
* Regular reporting and necessary site documentation
To be successful in your application as a JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION you should be able to clearly demonstrate the following key skills and experience:
* Hands on site experience either as a trade, labourer or supervisor
* In depth awareness of health & safety requirements within construction.
* Formal health and safety training, SMSTS / SSSTS qualification or CSCS card.
* Interpreting and working with technical drawings, project plans & budgets.
* IT literate including project management software and MS Office
* Prince2 or similar project management methodology training or practice
* Managing or influencing budgets
* Holding a full UK driving license. While you will be expected to travel to sites it is unlikely that this will extend to overnight stays.
This will suit someone who is looking to build their career within CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT, either coming from a trades background or having supplemented formal qualifications with real world, hands on site experience. It is a junior or training position working alongside an experience Project Manager and you will be both encouraged and expected to grow and develop within the role gradually increasing the amount of responsibility and accountability that you exert over a project with the ultimate aim of being the Project management lead.
NOTE : This is a full time position employed directly by the company on a PAYE basis it IS NOT an agency or limited hours contract.
