Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine
We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.
Our client currently provides general hospital services to a population of approximately 500,000 & some tertiary referral, specialist services to a considerably larger population of 1.2 Million. Our client is inclined to offer flexible job plans and will support individuals who wish to develop specialist interests such as research, education, and teaching & are looking to officially establish university hospital status relatively soon. The trust achieved some amazing milestones within the Medicine & Emergency Care Division, including:
1. The A&E 4 Hour target has repeatedly been met, making our client the top performing Trust in the Region.
2. Stroke Services have been consolidated onto 1 site in advance of the exciting new £6M HASU.
3. Elective performance has been maintained through early adoption of remote patient consultations.
4. Lung cancer services have met the 62-day standard for all cancer groups for 24 months in a row, one of only a few trusts in the country to do so.
The successful appointee will be joining a department of 6 Substantive Consultants and 3 Locum Consultants, where they'll be expected to support and lead on service development within the department. The appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties and responsibilities within the department, including:
1. Participate actively in departmental audits, sharing co-ordination of audit activities within the department and implementation of change.
2. Take an active responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and supervision.
3. Participate fully in and share leadership of the clinical governance of the specialty covering its Trust-wide activities.
4. Provide a high standard of care to any patient for whom you have clinical responsibility, including any patients referred to you and cared for by you personally or by members of your team.
5. Participate in clinical and other service activities and developments to ensure a high standard of patient care across the Trust.
6. Work in close co-operation with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues, both within and outside the specialty, to provide high-quality health care to the Trust's patients.
7. Contribute to future thinking about the Trust's strategic direction.
