We are looking for a Teaching Assistant apprentice to join our busy team at Forest View Primary School, learning all aspects of working in a school environment whilst studying towards your Teaching Assistant qualification. DBS check will be carried out if the candidate does not already hold one.

Annual Wage is £12,433.65 pro rata. Actual wage is £10,700.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Assisting in the educational and social development of groups of pupils and individual pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teachers and senior leadership team as approved by the Headteacher
* Assisting in the implementation of Individual and Group Education Programmes for pupils and help to record and monitor their progress
* Provide targeted intervention for individual pupils or small groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom, as directed by the class teachers and senior leadership time, to enable them to fully participate in activities
* Assisting with the supervision of pupils outside the classroom, including accompanying teaching staff on educational trips and visits
* Interacting with children in a fun and educational manner
* Encourage children’s independence
* Provide appropriate care and supervision for pupils with physical difficulties and ensure they are fully integrated into school life
* Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary
* Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
* Implement strategies, as directed by the class teachers and SENCO, to help pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties
* Prepare and present work books and displays of pupils' work as directed by the class teacher
* Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching
* Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
* Attend team meetings
* Be prepared to undertake further training
* Follow the school’s safeguarding procedures appropriately
* Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
* Support and supervise pupils during lunchtimes both inside and out
* Two references will be required for this position
