Business Development Manager Location: Hybrid split between working from head office (Ayr), in the field and at home. About the Role A unique opportunity has arisen to join Peacock Salt as a Business Development Manager. We are the largest salt distributor in the UK, serving a multitude of different sectors with salt and associated products and services. It is an exciting time to join this 5th generation family business who celebrated our 150th Anniversary in 2024. You will lead on a portfolio of sectors which include winter and non-winter customers. There’s a mixture of new business development and account management and as part of our Sales and Marketing Team, you’ll help shape and deliver strategies in line with the company’s 5 year objectives. Key Responsibilities Building and maintaining effective business relationships with new and existing customers, business partners and other stakeholders. Prospecting and identifying new potential customers, meeting and presenting as necessary. Working on some of the most exciting public sector contracts and taking the lead on tendering and bids. Building and maintaining a sales pipeline and recording sales activities on CRM (Microsoft Dynamics). Making data-led decisions using our suite of Management Information Working closely with internal stakeholders and key suppliers to develop fantastic customer experiences and fit-for-purpose products. Develop targets and budgets for your own individual area and feed into the creation of organisational strategy and company objectives. Travel throughout the UK and limited foreign travel for meetings, events, training and other duties as required. About You We’re looking for someone with: Must possess a minimum of 5 years Sales and Marketing experience in a business to business environment. Must have a track record of effective business relationship management, whilst meeting and exceeding sales targets. Must have experience of bidding and winning on public sector tender opportunities. Must have evidenced ability to understand customer requirements and respond accordingly, working autonomously or as part of a team. Must have an evidenced excellent customer service attitude, strong commercial acumen and excellent negotiating skills. Experience of working in a field based role, with good organisational skills and an ability to operate proactively and independently. Why Join Us?
