You will be responsible for a team of up to10 officers involved in the regulation and compliance of permitted activities associated with waste, water, agriculture, and/or large industry. You will work closely with your peers in a departmental setting, ensuring our rivers, communities and wildlife remain protected. Working closely with other Area teams and the Area Environmental Managers to deliver service levels and KPIs whilst playing a key role in the development of new ways of working.
In particular:
• Improving the engagement and motivation of our people
• Creating attractive roles for the future, whilst improving staff welfare, succession and career planning.
• Enhancing technical leadership and promoting professional standards, delivering improved team working and communication
• Ensuring we regulate based on risk and priority across the Area, using regulatory interventions with a clear end point.
• Provide leadership on topics for the whole department, delivering in a matrix management environment.
You would also be expected to hold an incident role and contribute to our incident response across the East Midlands. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team
Based at Owston Ferry depot (located between Doncaster and Gainsborough), the team focuses on delivering first-rate environment regulation across a large stock of environmental permits and licenses to ensure that wildlife, the environment and communities of East Midlands are protected from unnecessary and harmful pollution.
You will report direct to one of our 3 Area Environment Managers. You will lead, sponsor and provide direct oversight for designated department work packages and key areas of responsibility.
