A new instruction for an EU Procurement Materials Specialist with a key manufacturing client in the area specializing in fast moving consumer goods.
The Materials Specialist is a new role within the business and is initially presented on a fixed term contract basis for 7 months, with the possibility of a further extension thereafter.
This is a great opportunity to gain further experience within manufacturing and the opportunity to make the position your own. It is considered ideal for someone with a focus on supply chain and planning.
The Position:
The Materials Specialist will be responsible for strategic and tactical materials management functions for the corporation and act as liaison among all business units impacted by materials management, including Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Global Manufacturing Services, and the manufacturing plants, Contract Fillers, and direct material suppliers. This is a non-management role, as there are no direct reports.

Education & Experience we are seeking:
1. Thorough understanding of end to end supply chain
2. The ability to deal with conflict and ambiguity
3. A good technical understanding of both manufacturing processes and the packaging technologies (ideally associated with fast moving consumer goods/personal care products)
4. Previous experience in a multi-national organisation with cross border working
5. CIPS qualification or other professional qualification desirable
6. Procurement experience
7. Familiarity with MS Office (Outlook, ERP)
Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Managing material supply & inventory exposure
2. Work with key suppliers and EU Procurement to ensure flow of information critical to effective materials management
3. Develop raw materials inventory targets for key suppliers and plants
4. Update, track, and report periodically
5. Work closely with procurement, suppliers, and planning to ensure supplier capacity information is communicated effectively and is incorporated into the planning process
6. Manage daily operation performance workload balancing and scheduling for the team
7. Drive value and develop continuously improving business processes for Supplier Network collaboration
8. Resolve and effectively communicate the impact of supply issues
9. Provide tactical and strategic thought leadership in planning and procurement
10. Train new team members on client processes
11. Act as subject matter expert on tools and process
12. Resolve process escalations
Driving licence required as there may be a need to visit suppliers.
