Job overview
An exciting opportunity is now available to lead a new pre-assessment nursing team for Endoscopy. This role will require a forward-thinking dynamic Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with extensive clinical and leadership experience at band 6 or 7 in Endoscopy.
In order to manage this new pre-assessment nursing team, excellent communication is essential, as you will be expected to communicate effectively across multiple interfaces with your team, the Senior Sister at both Northern General and Royal Hallamshire hospital sites, patients, Matron, Consultants, Non-Medical Endoscopists, Service managers, Rota co-ordinators, Admin team, and other professionals working within and from outside the trust.
Main duties of the job
You will lead the nursing pre-assessment team to work within a multidisciplinary team and across clinical boundaries to enable high-quality preparation of patients for Endoscopy procedures. You will need to have outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills, the ability to demonstrate leadership, a sound understanding of Endoscopy and Gastroenterology environments, and Nursing care. An understanding of JAG accreditation standards for Endoscopy services would also be essential.

Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* RGN with 1st Degree
* NMC registered
* Completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
* Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and related procedures for Nurses Course.
* Leadership course or demonstrable leadership experience
Experience
* Experience as a band 6 within gastroenterology speciality
* Experience of leading a team
* Ability to work independently and across disciplines as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Ability to manage change effectively
Skills and knowledge
* Expert knowledge of Endoscopy procedures and patient pathways.
* Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis and with groups.
* Knowledge of The Joint Advisory Group and their requirements.
Personal Qualities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including specialist skills to communicate with staff and patients in relation to complex and sensitive issues.
* Demonstrates high motivational skills.
* Non-judgemental and able to adapt to different working environments, working across multiple sites.
