Teaching Assistant Sports Pathway Level 3 – Wicklea Academy We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join Wicklea Academy’s team. As a Teaching Assistant / Sports Coach. As an Apprentice you will gain many new skills to help you develop throughout the apprenticeship. Key Details Salary: £6.50p/h (increasing to £7.55 in April 2025) Working hours: Monday – Friday (flexi shifts) 16 hours per week Location: : Apprenticeship Details - 24 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Sports Pathway Qualification. (All learning is delivered online/ remote). Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider) As an apprentice you will become an essential part in the learning environment for the classroom teacher and pupils. Working to ensure pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing and safe environment. TAs play a crucial role in supporting teachers and pupils. Your work can have a significant impact on the children's learning experiences, helping them to succeed academically and personally. Your day to day duties will include: • Establish and develop effective relationships with designated students both 1:1 and in small groups, guiding them to ensure they make progress in line with their objectives and achieve their potential. • Contribute to organising physical teaching space and resources to maintain a safe, stimulating environment. • Assist in practical lessons e.g. PE, Drama and DT as required. • Organising physical teaching space and resources to maintain a safe, stimulating environment. • Administer medications where appropriate in accordance with Academy policy and assist students with personal care requirements such as toileting. • Escort and supervise students on educational and out of school activities. • Work in partnership with teachers ensuring individual student learning needs are met, discuss student progress and share strategies and concerns. • Effectively communicate knowledge and understanding of pupils to other professionals to facilitate informed decision making with regard to required intervention and provision. • Build effective ongoing relationships with parents/carers keeping them informed of the student needs, targets and progress and sustaining effective relationships with the school community. Recognise the valuable contribution of parents and carers to the development and wellbeing of students. • Contribute to basic monitoring, evaluating and assessment of students’ progress. Record and report on basic data. • Produce basic resources and study materials for use in intervention groups and in lessons. • Highlight and recommend resources that could be utilised to support specific students. • Ensure learning resources, IT and disability aids are available and operational when required to support full inclusion. The Teaching Assistant Sports Pathway uses the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard along with an embedded coaching qualification to enable those in a Sports TA role to achieve a relevant qualification whilst working in this position.
