I am currently working with an Ed tech company that is disrupting the education sector with their web platform and mobile app that supports the supply teacher market.
The product is designed to streamline how supply teachers and schools interact, allowing for a more consistent relationship along with enabling graduates a greater opportunity to get into teaching, supporting parents who want to return to work after having children, and creating a platform for supply teachers to build career development, which normally doesn’t happen due to the sporadic nature of the work.
This also means that schools and educational institutions reduce costs as the middleman is removed from the process, bringing greater visibility and a closer working relationship.
Exciting time to join.
Having been operational for 4 years, they have just received their largest round of investment and are looking to grow their in-house development team, starting with hiring a Lead Developer. They are looking for a Lead Developer or Senior Developer who wants to step up and oversee the direction of the product, as well as decisions around tech roadmap, DevOps practices, and development standards.
The product currently has a huge new feature roadmap, and the applications for this technology are massive as they look to expand within the UK and potentially move to the USA and Europe.
They are also conducting initial research into other industry sectors outside education, as this application has significant implications for other sectors where short-term temporary staff are required (e.g., nursing, doctors, legal).
Tech stack:
* C#.Net Core
* Angular
* SQL Server
The role.
The position will report directly to the CTO/Co-owner and will take full ownership of the product roadmap, as well as technical and infrastructure decisions regarding how they build their application to scale up at pace once the product goes to market.
The latest round of investment will allow this business to grow their development function with the addition of a couple of software engineers (reporting to this role) and a QA manager. This lead role is the first in-house developer they would like to hire.
This position offers the opportunity to take full ownership of the development processes and technology decisions, as well as oversee the team and the overall development of the core product and mobile app.
Given the timing of where they are in their journey, this would be an excellent opportunity for someone who desires more autonomy and wants to positively impact the wider educational industry.
As the owners see this role as pivotal, they are willing to offer equity as part of the long-term strategy.
What’s in it for me?
* Ability to lead the development function and make strategic decisions while setting the coding standards.
* Help transform an industry sector that improves the educational sector and reduces recruitment costs for educational institutions.
* Help build a product and team from the very early stages.
* Get an equity stake in a scale-up with a recent large investment.
The role is based near Old Street Tube station in central London. Given this is a lead role, the client would like this person to be in the office 2 days a week, with the rest working from home.
Salary-wise, they are looking to pay between £80,000 to £85,000, and the role will come with equity with the opportunity to earn a large payout.
