We are at the start of a large transformation programme for data management and we are looking for a Head of Data Excellence to lead the implementation and management of our vision and strategy across the organisation. The Head of Data Excellence is a key role within the Data Office, this person would lead, influence and facilitate the creation and implementation of data governance principles for all data domains, ensuring there is trust in, and accountability for, the quality of all of our data. Ultimately exploiting our data assets and enabling the business to make efficient and effective data led decisions. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the CDO, senior stakeholders, internal partners (DPO, Audit, Infosec, etc), and peers to identify data governance risks, devise strategy and agree priorities. Establish hierarchies in each business area and head up the development and execution of a business-wide Data Governance programme for all master data sources with clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Embed training, consultation support, and guidelines to successfully onboard and upskill Data Owners, Custodians and Stewards to fulfil their data governance roles. Lead and influence a large Data Governance team, supporting their personal development through clear direction, training and feedback. Direct the business on principles for implementing data quality indicators, mapping data lineage and prioritising backlogs to fix data issues. Oversee delivery of data lifecycle management protocols; build a centralised data inventory and define business rules, standards and procedures. Ensuring the business is compliant with enterprise standards and procedures, be a lead approver of all data assessments across the business. Be the champion and lead subject matter expert and main contact for Senior Leaders on data management and compliance, driving the importance, alignment and cultural change to treat data as a business-wide asset. Partner with the Data Protection Office to share risks and issues with senior leaders on a regular cadence, ensuring compliance with data legislation, and monitoring performance against data quality service level agreements. Build a protocol and escalation process for data incidents and issues management, supporting Data Stewards with root cause analysis and remediation activities Advocate for the business, customer and colleague in everything you do and inspire and coach others, with your knowledge and experience with all things relating to data Identify resource requirements and where needed recruit, manage and develop individuals; direct on and guide the choice of most appropriate tool sets, methods and design patterns for the team to work with. What you’ll need to have These are desirable skills or experience and are not essential, so we would welcome applications from candidates that don’t match this additional criteria.
