The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Functional Skills in English, Maths, and ICT to students with a range of special educational needs. You will work closely with a team of teaching assistants and SEN specialists to provide personalized learning plans and support to help students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in Functional Skills English, Maths, and ICT to SEN students.
2. Tailor lessons and resources to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students.
3. Assess and track student progress, providing regular feedback and setting targets for improvement.
4. Support students in developing essential life skills, building their confidence and independence.
5. Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
6. Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Experience in teaching Functional Skills English, Maths, and ICT (experience in SEN settings is highly desirable).
2. A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) and/or a Functional Skills Tutor qualification.
3. Knowledge of Special Educational Needs and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to support diverse learners.
4. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
5. Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students reach their potential.
6. A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to teaching and learning.
