Executive Director of Strategy and Transformation, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) is a major healthcare provider in Wales, delivering integrated primary, community, acute hospital, and mental health services to over 500,000 people across Rhondda, Merthyr Tydfil, and Bridgend. With a workforce of more than 13,000 dedicated professionals, CTMUHB is at a critical stage in its journey. Building on strong recent improvements and with a need to further accelerate our transformation, we are seeking an exceptional leader to take on the role of Executive Director of Strategy and Transformation.
As Executive Director of Strategy and Transformation, you will play a critical role in shaping our long-term direction, working across the entire health and care system – from acute services to mental health, community care, and our key partnerships with social care, housing, and sustainability sectors. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence at every level, spanning local, regional, and national agendas. You will be at the forefront of designing and delivering transformational programmes that move us away from traditional hospital centric models and towards integrated, community focused care.
We are seeking someone with vision and ambition, someone who can bring fresh, radical ideas to the table and energise our teams to think differently about healthcare delivery. Your ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from Welsh Government to local authorities, voluntary sector partners, and our communities, will be key to our success.
CTMUHB is a place where collaboration thrives. Our executive team is cohesive, supportive, and driven by a shared commitment to delivering outstanding care for our patients. With strong political support, financial stability, and major strategic developments on the horizon – including the development of Wales' first standalone treatment centre – this is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact.
As a key member of the executive team, reporting directly to the CEO, this is a pivotal leadership role, with reach across the Board and responsibility for driving transformation across the entire health system – acute, community, mental health, and beyond. You will lead the development of a long-term strategy that establishes CTMUHB as a national leader in population health, championing radical, innovative approaches to care delivery, prevention, and sustainability.
You will provide strategic leadership, developing and embedding a transformational five-year strategy focused on population health, sustainability, and innovation. Building on strong foundations, you will lead ambitious, system wide transformation programmes that reimagine healthcare delivery, fostering collaboration across Care Groups, public health, and voluntary sector partners.
We are seeking an inspiring, collaborative leader with a proven track record in developing and delivering large scale strategies and transformation programmes in complex healthcare environments. You will have a passion for driving change, coupled with the ability to turn vision into structured, actionable plans. With significant senior leadership experience, you will be able to inspire and lead a talented team, nurturing a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
CTMUHB is an organisation with a real sense of community; that actively supports and develops colleagues to ensure patients receive the best quality care. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a large and complex Health Board at the beginning of its transformation, and to be central to the development and improvement of our culture and services, making a tangible difference to our population.
