Our client, a leader in the power utilities sector, is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. The role involves designing and delivering utility connections to the E-mobility and Industrial sectors, specifically electrical connections. The company provides LV and 11kv connections to the grid.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nProduce project-specific DNO/IDNO/Private network electrical designs\nCreate bill of quantities of equipment in line with relevant IEC, DNO, IDNO, and client specifications\nConduct cable calculations\nPrepare technical reports detailing the proposed connection arrangement\nDesign earthing systems and layouts\nReview client specifications\nPlan HV substation layouts and elevations\nComplete DNO and IDNO POC applications and protection settings\nPerform site development and due diligence studies\nDevelop and review single-line diagrams and capacity/network planning studies\nLiaise with external design houses, consultancies, clients, IDNOs, and DNOs\nReview equipment manufacturers' proposals and ensure equipment suitability\nApprove and issue designs for construction\nInput into contract project plans, report progress, and identify risks\nEnsure compliance with laws, including Electricity at Work, H&S, ESQCR, and CDM Regulations\n\nAdditional Duties:\n\nHold overall responsibility for the engineering design of projects\nRepresent the client brand in direct contact with clients\nCoordinate project requirements with civil, electrical, protection, and control designers\nLead projects from commencement to handover\nSupport the Project Delivery Team during the Project Design Change Process\nMaintain project programmes through the design phase\nPrepare design phase safety documentation, risk assessments, and preliminary H&S plans\nManage the design approval process with UK DNOs/IDNOs\nComplete project Environmental and Sustainability files\nSupport the estimating process with Project Managers\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nHNC minimum qualification in Electrical Engineering\nGood knowledge and experience in Designing LV to 33kv projects\nExperience in HV Substation design to DNO/IDNO specifications\nKnowledge of British Standards and G81\nProficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project\nKnowledge of AutoCAD; knowledge of Amtech, Revit, CDEGS (advantageous)\n\nBenefits:\n\nPaying up to £60,000 per annum\nMonday to Friday 40hrs per week\nVehicle or vehicle allowance\nHybrid working (x1 per month in the office)\nPension plan\nBonus scheme\nHealth Shield\nShare save optionsIf you are an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking for a permanent opportunity within the power distribution and energy sector, we would love to hear from you.
