As a Physical Education Teacher, your responsibilities typically include more than just marking and planning, although those are important aspects of the role. Here are some key responsibilities you would typically have:
1. Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging physical education curriculum that covers essential topics and a variety of sports and fitness activities.
2. Effective Classroom Instruction: Provide clear and effective instruction, utilizing innovative teaching methods and real-world examples to make physical education concepts accessible and relatable to students.
3. Student Assessment: Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including practical assessments, participation, and fitness evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to promote academic and physical growth.
4. Mentorship and Guidance: Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity in students, guiding them towards their personal development and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
5. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and organized learning environment that encourages active participation, teamwork, and a strong passion for physical education among students.
6. Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of physical education and sports, bringing current industry insights into the classroom and participating in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
The successful candidate for Physical Education Teacher will have:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (ideally PGCE, GTP, BEd, Cert Ed, BA with QTS) in Physical Education or a related field.
2. Prior experience teaching Physical Education to secondary school students.
3. Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods in physical education.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
6. DBS on Updated Service.
