We are seeking a Major Projects Lawyer to join our friendly, supportive and dynamic Legal team supporting Stratford on Avon and Warwick District Councils. The Councils are involved in a diverse range of major projects, from the redevelopment of the Gateway site in Stratford upon Avon to plans for a new community football stadium in Leamington Spa.
The successful candidate will undertake the legal work required in connection with large scale land transactions and major redevelopment/regeneration projects promoted by the two Councils. This may include land appropriation, compulsory purchase order management, restrictive covenants review, licences, advising the Councils as master developer, leasehold/freehold acquisitions and disposals, bye-law considerations and advice regarding deal structure, joint ventures, and company law. There is also a need to have an understanding of procurement law.
We welcome applications from experienced major projects lawyers ready to hit the ground running with this work and without daily supervision – this is not a development role. We seek applications from people who have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary way who are motivated to use their research and analytical skills to provide practical, solution-focussed legal advice to our internal clients. This role provides an opportunity to work on highly interesting projects, advising at a senior level in both Councils and using a broader range of knowledge and skills than would be possible in more specialised roles, such as a property role.
Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from people from all parts of the legal sector. We will accept applications from qualified solicitors, barristers and fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives.
We have offices in the centre of historic Stratford upon Avon and embrace flexible, agile working arrangements including home working.
