This role provides a great opportunity for an organised and pro-active individual looking to develop their knowledge and experience in a supportive and inclusive team. This is a new role and the postholder will be part of a small team who will ensure the smooth running of the Trust's corporate governance services. The postholder will provide corporate governance expertise and support to the organisation to ensure the continuing development of the governance framework for the organisation and ensure that it meets a high standard of compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. The postholder will provide support to the Trust Board and its committees and the Council of Governors and its committees, so they run effectively. They will deputise for the Associate Director of Corporate Governance when needed and line manage the office of the Chairman.
In conjunction with the Associate Director of Corporate Governance, the post holder will ensure the delivery and continuing development of a high performing corporate governance function ensuring compliance with all annual and ad-hoc statutory and legislative requirements and be a point of contact to advise on Corporate Governance policies, regulatory and statutory requirements. The post holder will support the Trust Secretariat function (Trust Board and Council of Governors) including providing a comprehensive administrative service, effective functioning of the Trust's corporate meeting cycle and providing a high level of professional support for all board and executive committee meetings. An important requirement of the role will be to build positive working relationships with our Governors and support them in delivering their responsibilities.

Qualifications
Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience and technical knowledge gained by working in a governance or compliance area plus further staff and project management knowledge to post graduate diploma level equivalent.
Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
Experience
Experience in a public sector/education/complex regulated organisation.
Experience of working closely with the Board and senior leaders.
Working knowledge of corporate governance and assurance.
Experience supporting senior level committees, working in a secretariat team and/or governance function.
Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously and completing on time.
Experience of planning and organising a wide range of complex activities which are subject to change at short notice.
Ability to take high quality, accurate minutes for Board level meetings.
Advanced keyboard skills to support high-level board meetings.
Fine attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in information provided.
Highly effective range of communication and interpersonal skills as the post holder must be able to articulate complex and sensitive issues to a wide range of recipients at all levels to ensure compliance, where there can be barriers to understanding and acceptance due to the legal and regulatory complexities.
