Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an experienced Senior Component Engineer to join their UK Component Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for selecting, vetting, and cataloguing mechanical and electromechanical components and materials used in missile products. Additionally, the role involves ensuring compliance with specific standards and managing obsolescence.
Key Responsibilities:
* You will get to know in detail the latest products and technologies available to support our customer's advice.
* Regular visits to relevant stakeholders and suppliers will be made to keep up-to-date knowledge.
* Support local and international continuous improvement initiatives to help define best practices and manage the adoption and adherence of agreed methodologies across the teams internationally.
* Assess and manage relationships with suppliers, including negotiating price terms and ensuring the reliability of component sources.
* Perform tests and inspections on components to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
* Monitor component lifecycles and address issues related to component obsolescence, ensuring the availability of replacement parts.
What do you need?
* Knowledge and experience in electromechanical components and materials.
* Understanding and appreciation of the REACH and RoHS regulations.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Pro-activeness and self-motivation to improve self, improve process, and get the job done.
* Experience with tests and inspections on components.
* Knowledge of detailed records and documentation related to component specifications and testing results.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our client's Security Team.
