Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for position as a registered psychologist to join our Community Forensic Team within the learning disability and autism pathway. The post-holder will work in the Hull and East Riding Team based at the Humber Centre, with travel in the region to see service users. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate practitioner with an interest in working with adults with learning disabilities, autism and offending/risk behaviours.
The post is suited to an experienced, knowledgeable and autonomous individual. The Community Forensic Teams provide a consultation service to inpatient and community providers, you will promote and provide a psychologically informed approach to risk formulation and risk management. You will clinically lead the learning disability and autism pathway and will support MDT colleagues.
You will benefit from being part of our friendly psychology team consisting of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists. We maintain strong cohesion as a department and there will be opportunities for support from the other Psychologists working within the Department. There may be a requirement to work into the prison and inpatient pathways.
We are looking for a Psychologist with experience of managing forensic risk, and a strong track record of working with learning disability, autism and neurodiversity.
You will provide and receive regular clinical supervision. The Department has well-established links with the University of Hull.
Main duties of the job
The Principal Psychologist is accountable for providing high standard clinical services within the Community Forensic Team.
Key responsibilities include:
1. High-Quality Psychology Service : Ensuring the provision of a high-quality psychology service to Community Forensic Services. This involves strong, effective leadership, engagement with service users, carers and partners, and a trauma-informed approach to specialist forensic consultation, assessment and intervention within the community.
2. Coordination and Direction : Co-coordinate the planning and organisation of specialist psychological services within the locality area, in agreement with the Clinical Lead/Operational Manager. Provide clinical supervision, offer advice, and consult on service users' psychological care and risk management to colleagues.
3. Collaboration and Expertise : Work alongside other teams and agencies, providing expert guidance for people accessing the teams services. Demonstrate advanced psychological skills, deliver high-quality care, and contribute to reviewing, developing and monitoring operational/clinical policy.
4. Research and Development : Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development within the relative service area.
