The Council’s Skills and Employment Team are looking to recruit an Employment Support Officer to support delivery of the New Ground Supported Internship programme.
Supported Internships are a structured study programme based primarily at an employer. They enable young people aged 16-24 with a statement of SEN, or an Education, Health and Care plan to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work, through learning in the workplace.
We are looking for a new Employment Support Officer to provide tailored pre-work and in-work support to both supported interns and employers so that young people can make positive progression into paid employment. The role demands excellent communication skills and an ability to empower and motivate others and support them to learn roles within a variety of workplaces. We are looking for an immediate start to join our New Ground team.
We are looking for skilled, proactive and flexible individuals who want to help make a difference to support young people to transition and progress towards employment. You will offer 1-1 support to help young people to learn, accommodate, and perform work duties. In addition to working on skills related to performing specific job tasks, you will also help to develop the interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in the workplace. Key elements of the support you will provide will include mentoring and support, action planning and completing/maintaining accurate paperwork records.
Interviews for these roles will take place from week commencing 16/09/2024 and will take place virtually using Microsoft Team or in person.
