What you will do in your working day
The role is for a candidate who wishes to train in a live workplace whilst gaining a bachelor’s degree level qualification in Civil Engineering.
The position involves working in the company’s design department with experienced engineers, who will help guide the candidate through various aspects of permanent and temporary works design, involving the use of specialist design software.
The candidate will report to the Head of Engineering, and have day to day contact with senior engineers, construction managers, project leaders, quality manager, and the finance department within the organisation.
There will also be regular contact with our clients as we work on their projects.
The candidate will gain experience of working collaboratively internally and externally in achieving efficient design solutions for a variety of structures throughout the UK, Ireland. Europe and Australia.
The importance of adhering to various design codes and problem-solving techniques will be part of the training.
Essentially an office-based role, however travelling will likely be necessary to attend meetings and inspect construction sites.
On a daily basis the candidate will attend the office to carry out tasks on multiple projects both during design and construction phase all under the supervision of senior designers
It is a full-time position with a day a week during term time to attend University. Outside of term time the candidate will attend work for 5 days per week.
Minimum outcomes:
* Be able to design and manage the design process of post tensioned building structures.
* Maintain project material budgets and design programmes.
* Assist in the quotation of potential new works.
* Inspection of project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, drawings, and quality assurance.
* Discuss site-based issues with site personnel and coordinate resolution.
* Prepare reports and submit to project / construction engineers.
* Maintain daily design execution and site supervision as required for programme.
The position is based in London with possible travel to surrounding countries.
The training you will be getting
* The successful candidate will be working from our UK head office in Shepperton, Surrey, with a day a week during term time to attend University to study for their Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree BEng (Hons).
* The role will be predominantly office based within the design department, but will include visits project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, drawings, and quality assurance.

* They may go on to Masters, Phd studies and / or chartership Status.
