Job summary The post holder will be expected to work between Orsett and Basildon Hospital. The department is primarily a nurse led and nurses are responsible for both the admission and discharge of the surgical patients undergoing day surgery procedures. After appropriate training, the post holder will be able to discharge a surgical patient independently and able to take helpline call for post operative as required. Also the post holder will be able to pre-assess for their upcoming surgery and able to make a clinical decisions appropriately. Main duties of the job To ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility To work as part of multi disciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients. Ensure all patients receive a high standard of care in line with evidence based practice Ensure adherence to Trust/ Local policies, guidelines and other legislation and support National and Local initiatives and adhere to NMC Code of Professional conduct at all times. Take part in rotation through all areas of the departments and across the two sites to meet the needs of the service which currently covers the hours between 7:00am and 10:00 pm.
