Our Water engineering design and delivery client is seeking a number of Civil Engineers to be based out of their Leeds office on a permanent basis.
You will join a growing multi-disciplinary design team focused on temporary and permanent engineering design for work directly delivering for AMP8 frameworks, including the stormwater alliance. Our client is looking for 2 candidates with 1-3 years of water site or civil design experience. They are also seeking a more experienced candidate with temporary works/reinforced concrete structure experience with 3-5 years' experience.
Responsibilities
1. Completing all aspects of Civil engineering design for projects: briefs, calculations, reviews of others' designs, risk assessments, drawings, etc.
2. Coordinating with the CAD Team to create and review drawings/models of their designs.
3. Coordinating with site delivery teams to get input on constructability and preferred methods of construction.
4. Input into various reviews of designs, such as HAZOPS, ALMs, Stage Gate reviews.
5. Completing geotechnical reports and arranging ground investigation works for projects.
6. Completing site visits to discuss works and preferred techniques with operatives, review designs and installation, and receive feedback on how to improve future designs.
7. Site visits required during construction - 3 days office, 2 days site generally with travel to site covered via expenses.
Skills/Experience/Qualifications
1. Experience using AUTOCAD for 2D sketching.
2. Experience using Finite Element Analysis software (any type).
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office software, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
4. Good understanding of design standards, principles of designs, and application of the Eurocodes/British Standards to their work.
5. Familiarity with geotechnical design.
6. Familiarity with reinforced concrete design.
7. Familiarity with temporary works design.
8. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel/have own transport for site visits within the Yorkshire Water area of operation.
9. Good written and verbal communication skills to explain work to different groups such as clients, operatives on site, and project management teams.
10. Self-motivated and driven.
11. Good attention to detail and thorough with their work.
12. Well organized and capable of multi-tasking (working on different projects simultaneously).
Benefits
1. Salaries range from £40-50k for 1-3 years experience and £55-70k for 3-5 years experience.
2. Start date: Flexible depending on candidate notice period.
3. Hours: Monday to Friday, normal working week of 45 hours, including 1 hour of rest breaks each day, with flexibility to work outside these hours if necessary.
4. Mileage for travel to sites other than the office, paid at 45p/mile (for the first 10k miles per year).
5. Pension: 5% employee, company matched 3%.
6. Annual leave: 27 days (excluding bank holidays) per year.
7. Sponsorship is considered; however, payment for the visa etc. will not be provided by our client.
