Role Purpose
We are looking for a pragmatic, collaborative and experienced Lead Counsel, to support our new company Vodafone IoT.
The Lead Counsel will report to the Head of Legal & External Affairs and plays an active role on their Management Team, delivering change programmes and driving Spirit behaviours.
The individual will manage a team responsible for delivering legal advice and support to the IoT business and will lead on related strategic projects, partnerships and IoT Products.
The Lead Counsel will play a positive role in influencing business strategy in a way that builds a trusted Vodafone IoT. They will also implement transformation initiatives to drive operational excellence in order to support commercial growth and the earning of customer loyalty.
The Lead Counsel will liaise with other specialists around the Group and the Vodafone Group Legal teams. The role will include, where appropriate, scoping out and managing external advisors for specific support.
What you’ll do
• Provide expert legal advice and strategic business partnering to the Head of Legal & External Affairs, covering commercial, product and technology law and regulation and related areas of compliance and risk including IP, and privacy.
• Lead team responsible for advising the IoT business and structuring and negotiating related strategic projects, partnerships and IoT products. Provide legal advice to senior business stakeholders.
• Develop strong business partner relationships with key leaders across Vodafone IoT, Vodafone Group, Group Legal, Vodafone Local Markets, Partners to enable the delivery of Vodafone IoT Products & Services in an effective, efficient and compliant way.
• Create and chair cross-functional forums and working groups to share best practice and implement change. Lead transformation initiatives in order to improve operational excellence, enable growth and support Vodafone IoT in earning customer loyalty.
• Play a proactive role, taking on responsibility for sponsoring change programmes and projects to drive improvements, Spirit behaviours and engagement year on year.
Who you are
Solicitor or barrister (qualified to practice law in the UK or at least one European jurisdiction) with minimum 10+ years’ relevant experience
• Experience advising on commercial /consumer-facing products and services preferred
• Experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements and parnerhip agreement.
• Experience working on multiple projects at once with an ability to prioritise and plan time effectively, providing accurate, pragmatic and actionable advice to tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to communicate with impact to senior managers, legal, and commercial audiences using a variety of communication styles.
