The expansion of the Digital Engineering Department means we are now looking to recruit new Digital Automation Engineer.

Role Overview
As a Digital Automation Engineer, you will be reporting to the Digital Engineering Director and will be working with the Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. You will be involved in and take responsibility for digital automation projects, assisting in the roll out of vision systems and advanced control systems into our 24/7 production lines. You will participate in sharing projects globally across the Knauf Insulation organization, with the occasional opportunity to work on projects across the Knauf group.
For this role, domestic and international travel to support and implement projects (around 20-30% of the working time) is required.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Work with local plant teams to ensure all plants are using the best available software and hardware to operate the production lines, helping to deliver best products most efficiently (lowest cost).
2. Support the plants in case of operational problems with the digital control system.
3. Work with Artificial Intelligence and Data Science teams to provide and maintain vision and control system software to leverage the opportunities that modern day digital systems provide.
4. Support computer hardware systems (Windows and Linux) which form the foundation for our digital systems.
5. Integrate proposed automation solutions with running production lines.
6. Collaborate with the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science team to develop proof-of-concept for proposed automation solutions.
7. Collaborate with other Digital Engineers and local plant engineers in rolling-out successful solutions to plants.
8. Coordinate activities with the plant team, IT team, external suppliers, and the interaction with the SAP/SQL/MES systems.
9. Support plant teams and IT team with OT network installation (green field) and reconfiguration (brown field) related to vision and control system implementation.
10. Support development and rollouts of advanced control systems.
11. Take part in process trials to check on and optimize control system performance.
12. Constantly improve their knowledge of the business and advanced analytics field in general.

* PLC programming skills (ladder, function block, statement list, etc.)
* SCADA programming experience.
* Knowledge of latest PLC and SCADA software systems.
* Good knowledge of control loops, how to optimize/improve.
* Manufacturing plant experience within engineering team, supporting process teams in electrical and control.
* Basic electrical skills and understanding.
* People related, communicative, team oriented.
* Excellent English verbal and written communication skills (any other European language is an asset).
