Job overview
Our Vascular Lab is looking for a highly motivated, excellent team player committed to the delivery of high-quality patient care to join the team in the role of Senior Clinical Vascular Scientist, accredited or nearly accredited.
Ideally you should be an SVT accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist (AVS), or are an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist or hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in vascular ultrasound able to perform assessments and report on them independently.
We will consider applications with less experience or who are currently working towards AVS accreditation or have recently finished/nearly finished the STP training programme, but appointment in this case may be at a lower banding. Our current opening hours are Monday to Sunday 08:30 - 16:30. The role will also include weekends and bank holiday working. Full or part-time hours are available.

Main duties of the job
Main duties of your role include performing and reporting vascular ultrasound examinations, managing the patient workload on a daily basis, participating in research, audit and teaching, supervising and training our trainee clinical vascular scientist and assisting with administrative/operational running of the department.
Your role, as part of the Vascular Lab Team, will be supported by a team of Vascular Specialist Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers and a Vascular Lab Administrator, with a large, air-conditioned room housing 5 scanning areas, 3 main ultrasound machines within the department (2x G.E Logic E10 plus 1x G.E portable Logiq E) and carry out a wide range of vascular investigations including carotid, aorta, upper and lower limb arterial and venous assessments, imaging of endovascular aneurysm repair and DVT assessments.
In the future there may be a need to scan and support the vascular lab across Broomfield and Southend Hospitals (part of the MSE Trusts).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Senior Clinical Vascular Scientist will be responsible for supporting the Clinical Vascular Scientists, trainee CVSs, administrator, and the wider vascular lab team with significant autonomy delegated by the Lead Clinical Vascular Scientist managing and developing the broader service.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading development of specific aspects of the unit as delegated by the Lead Clinical Vascular Scientist in line with the interests and the Senior Clinical Vascular Scientist and the needs of the service. In addition to this, key objectives for the service in the coming years successfully gaining IQIPS accreditation and taking on more trainees.
Responsible for leading on the training and education of trainees, in formulation and implementation of service improvement projects, as well as in acting to supervise clinical staff within a vascular lab.
Independently perform and report the full range of scans, using clinical experience and knowledge in line with Good Scientific Practice to ensure patient flow is optimised, and carrying out other duties in line with the full job description below.
