Job Summary
Southampton Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP) is currently looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional to join the multi-disciplinary team in delivering individual and group interventions to people aged between 14 to 65 years who are presenting with first episode psychosis.
The successful candidate will have quality improvement skills and the vision to continue with the development of the service. They will champion a culture based on principles of recovery, choice and personalised care, providing a role model to junior members of the team. They will be compassionate and committed to providing patient-centred and evidence-based care and will have an awareness of current national drivers relating to working with individuals with a psychotic illness.
Experience of working as a CPN or in this field will be an advantage.
Car driver and use of car within work hours is essential.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
Role Purpose
To provide psychiatric interventions to clients presenting with first episode psychosis and their families/carers within Southampton and specifically to help ensure the provision of a comprehensive service to those made most vulnerable by virtue of mental ill health.
1. To maintain a high standard of professional practice in the assessment of care needs, treatment and evaluation of programmes of care.
2. To attend and participate in C.P.A.s, and other joint meetings, to identify suitable clients for treatment. To ensure the provision of a C.P.A. for all clients.
3. To undertake initial team assessments of referred clients and report to the referral agents after discussion/supervision from the appropriate Team Meeting. To also undertake joint assessments with colleagues from other disciplines and agencies as and when appropriate.
4. To participate/lead in the CPA and become a care manager for an identified caseload.
5. To formulate and implement treatment programmes and report to the referring agent on the client's progress.
6. To complete an accurate assessment of risk with all new clients and provide the initial management plan. All risk management plans will be reviewed and updated as appropriate.
7. To agree and plan final discharge providing reports for the referring agent when treatment programmes are completed, and when community team involvement is no longer considered necessary.
8. To support the team in carrying out physical health checks for all individuals on caseload.

* Supervising of students on clinical placement
* IT skills

* Previous experience of working in a community-based mental health service.
