Personal assistant required for 10 hours per week, with availability to cover annual leave and sickness of other workers. The 10 hours per week will be 2 x 5-hour shifts. There is flexibility with the hours and days, which can be agreed each week. If you have commitments (e.g., school runs), hours can be worked around. Please specify your preferred hours/days on your application/CV.
The young lady enjoys watching television, listening to the radio, and all kinds of music.
The young lady has Rett Syndrome, a complex physical disability, plus epilepsy. She communicates using Eyegaze Technology and eye pointing.
You will be required to deliver all aspects of personal care/healthcare, including:
1. Delivering nutrition by gastrostomy
2. Assisting with bathing
3. Administering an airway before sleep
4. Administering medication set out by parents
5. Using a hoist for transfers
The role also includes supporting the young lady with accessing education with a private tutor. All necessary training will be provided.
The ideal candidate would have a background in healthcare, but all training will be provided.
A genuine occupational requirement for a female worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
A car driver is desirable; a vehicle will be provided.
