Salary: £25,070 per annum, year in industry position based at Wrexham, Northern Wales (15 minutes by train from Chester), for a summer 2025 start.
This role is only available for current university students eligible to work in the UK and currently in their 2nd year of study if studying for a bachelor's or 3rd year of study if studying for an integrated master.
Summary / Role Purpose
The aim of this position is to give the student relevant industrial experience as a member of the software development team developing the Ansys Motor-CAD multiphysics software product and supporting systems. In this role, the Intern Student will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to design and implement new software features.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Performs basic development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing, and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
2. Learns and employs best practices.
3. Performs basic bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
4. Works under the close supervision of a development manager.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
1. Undergraduate in Computer Science, or science/engineering related field with strong focus on computer programming.
2. Experience of software development or computational numerical analysis.
3. Strong aptitude in Mathematics and interest in physics.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
1. Experience with Python, C++, or Matlab.
2. Basic understanding of the software development process.
3. An understanding of electromagnetics and thermal principles.
4. Knowledge of electric motors and their applications.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
