An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 support worker to support the Paediatric Asthma nursing team at Darent Valley Hospital. This is a newly created post to work alongside two Paediatric Asthma Specialist Nurses for 22.5 hours per week.
This post will be predominantly based on the Darent Valley Hospital site. The post holder may be required to support the other specialist nursing teams.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative person to join our team.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist the Asthma Nurse Specialists, Respiratory consultants and MDT with co ordinating a robust Asthma service. Excellent communication and organizational skills are paramount to ensure patient safety and delivery of care.
2. Provide administrative support to the team, including using PAS and other systems to book and outcome clinics. Reorganize and restructure clinics due to service change and consultant and nurse capacity.
3. Give basic advice to patient parents, health professionals and the general public as guided by the specialist nurse and accurately record information in the patients notes or internal system.
4. Ensure that appointments are made in a timely and appropriate manner involving the booking, amending or cancelling of appointments using the patient Administration System (PAS) liaising with adult and Paediatric medical secretarial teams.

Person specification
Education and Training
* NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent
* Previous knowledge or working within a healthcare setting
* Care Certificate (or working towards)
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of child health, development and protection
* Understanding of working with agencies/multidisciplinary working
* Excellent communication skills
* Able to work within a team and prioritise workload with minimal supervision
* Basic knowledge about Asthma
Experience
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team within a health care setting
* Experience of planning & organising clinics and events
* Experience of working with the public
