BEL Engineering, part of the British Engines Group, is a leading engineering service provider offering full process control of subcontract manufacturing services, with machining capabilities from 3mm diameter to 50 tonne components.
Position Overview
As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in various engineering roles, including:
* Engineering Technician
* Machinist
* Team Leader/Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop hand tooling skills and CNC machining and programming skills.
2. Learn advanced manual turning, milling, drilling, and grinding skills.
3. Produce parts using multiple CNC machining techniques and apply problem-solving techniques where required.
4. Understand full in-house production, quality systems, and work towards leading class customer specifications.
5. Measure/check parts and make adjustments to meet required specifications.
6. Check documentation to customer specifications to adhere to quality standards and processes.
7. Build understanding of how businesses operate and the relationships between departments.
8. Complete Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) training.
Training and Development
At the start of your apprenticeship, you’ll spend the first 20 weeks at TDR Training School in Longbenton. You’ll then join the team at BEL Engineering in Walker, spending four days per week in the factory while attending college one day per week.
Specialising in mechanical engineering, you’ll build a portfolio of evidence throughout your apprenticeship to work towards a Level 3 Machining Diploma.
