Located in St Albans, this well-run and supportive Secondary school is looking for someone to support children currently behind where they need to be in their mainstream education. This could be due to a number of reasons including circumstances at home, an EHCP or SEN requirement, or low attendance levels. Due to continued expansion and an increasing intake year on year, the school is looking to expand their staffing in most areas and currently have a vacancy for a Pastoral Support worker to join the school on a full-time basis from Easter or ASAP; this is a temporary to permanent contract.
As Pastoral Support Leader, the successful candidate will work with several students on a one-to-one basis, looking at background reasons, events, and issues that may be affecting their ability to learn in a mainstream setting, with the ideal outcome being that they are returned to their original school.
Key attributes required for the Pastoral Support Leader role:
1. Passionate about education and supporting young people through difficult life events
2. Strong experience working with SEN/pastoral issues
3. Calm, understanding persona who will quickly build trusting relationships
4. Able to work in partnership with a range of stakeholders
5. Keen to report, investigate, support, develop, and encourage as part of daily duties
