What we are looking for We are looking for a Communities Officer with an Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) specialism to join our Communities team. About the role As our Communities Officer- ASB specialism, you will encourage and support others to take an active part in helping the councils develop safe, vibrant and healthy places to live. This is a key role in supporting and developing place based community development and engagement programmes to help build communities which are safe, strong, cohesive and confident. More specifically, this role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Babergh and Mid Suffolk's approach to preventing and designing out crime and disorder in particular anti-social behaviour (ASB) within our local communities. Key aspects of this role include: Support the development and implementation of intervention activities designed to prevent crime, ASB and the fear of crime working with other internal teams, external partners and our Communities. Assist in delivering excellent ASB services to our customers by providing services to the highest possible standards and ensuring that operational performance remains high and improves. Responsible for managing a case load of ASB cases, including completing risk assessments to ensure effective risk management plans are in place for victims identified at a higher risk of harm. Assist in the operational delivery of the Western Suffolk Community Safety Partnership ASB priorities focusing on early intervention and prevention. Promote good relationships between the council, partner agencies, local residents, business communities and schools. About you Educated to degree level or an equivalent level of knowledge gained in the workplace, we are looking for a confident person with an adaptable approach and excellent communication skills as these are key attributes for this role. You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of what it is like to work within a political environment. Key skills and experience we are looking for: Experience of dealing/working with the general public. Experience and understanding of working in a multi-agency community safety environment. Experience of taking enforcement action in relation to ASB and resolving conflict situations. Experience of preparing witness statements, legal documents, case reports and attending court. Experience of working within a pressurised environment requiring a high standard of service delivery within tight timescales. Experience of using IT systems to include Outlook, Windows, CRM, to intermediate level. Competent working knowledge of relevant ASB legislation including experience in applying and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of legislation. Efficient at time management and being an effective communicator you will be at the forefront of some of our key areas of work. You will engage with different departments of the council as well as external stakeholders such as our partners in the voluntary and public sector. This position is subject to the satisfactory result of a DBS check and you will need to hold a full driving licence as well as have access to a vehicle.
