London
Artsy is looking for a Senior Product Manager to drive engagement and retention in our product. Your mission: turn casual visitors into engaged collectors by creating experiences that keep them coming back. You’ll shape how aspiring and experienced collectors discover, connect with, and ultimately buy art on Artsy.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this role sits at the intersection of product, art, and commerce, and requires balancing the needs of high-intent buyers with those just starting their collecting journey. You’ll be working in a low-frequency, two-sided art marketplace, which means the challenge isn’t just getting users in the door and helping them find the piece they want to buy – it’s keeping them engaged over time. Success here requires deep user insight, smart experimentation instincts, an intuition around user experience, and a sharp sense of what moves the needle. This opportunity is perfect for someone who is excited about building products that inspire and can also drive business impact.
You’ll be joining a newly formed team focused on engagement, retention, and the overall app experience. The goal: build intuitive, compelling experiences that keep collectors coming back – whether they’re discovering new artists, browsing fresh works, or diving deeper into the art world.
You’ll work closely with engineering, design, and data in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment. This isn’t a feature factory – it’s an empowered team with the mandate to experiment, learn, and build what truly drives engagement.
This is a full-time hybrid role, with in-office attendance required 2-3 days a week. This role is based in our London office.
What You’ll Do at Artsy:
1. Own the vision and strategy for engagement and retention, ensuring Artsy is a place collectors return to and deeply engage with.
2. Lead the development of intuitive, compelling experiences that connect users with art and integrate seamlessly into our purchasing funnel.
3. Work closely with other PMs to align top-of-funnel discovery with mid-funnel engagement, ensuring a smooth journey from browsing to buying.
4. Collaborate with engineering, design, data, and business stakeholders to prioritize, build, and ship impactful features.
5. Take an iterative, data-driven approach, using both qualitative and quantitative insights to refine strategy and execution.
6. Navigate the complexities of a low-frequency, high-consideration marketplace, balancing user engagement with the needs of partners.
7. Apply expertise in behavioral science, personalization, or habit-forming products to drive retention – without relying on manipulative tactics.
8. If you have a passion for art or a deep understanding of collector psychology, even better!
This role is a fit for you if:
1. You have deep product management experience and a strong track record of building intuitive, sticky app experiences that keep users engaged over time.
2. You have a sharp product intuition and a deep understanding of user experience – balancing usability, engagement, and business impact.
3. You know how to balance engagement and conversion in B2C products – bonus if you have marketplace or content-driven experience.
4. You’re naturally curious, think from first principles, and love breaking down complex problems into simple, high-impact solutions.
5. You’re hypothesis-driven, comfortable with ambiguity, and use data to inform and refine strategy.
6. You excel at working cross-functionally, aligning teams, and clearly communicating vision and trade-offs.
7. You thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment and can shape strategy with limited precedent.
You are currently authorized to live and work in the United Kingdom.
This role will be based in London.
What success looks like in your first 3-6 months:
1. First 3 months: Build strong relationships with your team and key stakeholders, gaining a deep understanding of Artsy’s user base, app experience, and business priorities.
2. Develop a clear point of view on how to improve engagement while ensuring alignment with the purchasing funnel.
3. Identify and prioritize key opportunities to improve user retention, backed by data and user insights.
4. First 6 months: Launch impactful initiatives that drive measurable improvements in engagement and retention.
5. Define and align the team around a clear 12–18 month roadmap, rooted in evidence-based insights.
6. Establish a collaborative, empowered team culture that enables rapid learning and iteration.
