Finance Officer (Maternity Cover - 12 months)

Contract: Fixed Term - 12 months (Maternity Cover), Full-time
Salary: £33,295 - £34,882 (inclusive of London Weighting)
Hours: 36 hours per week

About Us
West London Waste Authority plays a key role in sustainable waste management, driving efficiency and innovation across West London. We are looking for a Finance Officer (Maternity Cover) to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is crucial in ensuring our financial operations continue to run smoothly during this period.
Role Overview
As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial processing, reconciliations, and reporting. You will also support office administration and help improve financial processes to enhance efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Processing: Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including supplier payments, customer invoicing, and bank reconciliations.
* Reconciliations: Assist in preparing financial reconciliations, ensuring variances are identified and resolved.
* Month-End & Budgeting Support: Contribute to month-end financial processes, assist with annual budget preparation, and support internal and external audits.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with budget holders and external suppliers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
* Administrative Support: Oversee office administration tasks such as handling invoices, maintaining records, and assisting with financial system updates.
* Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and recommend enhancements to financial workflows.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual with strong financial skills and excellent communication abilities. You should be confident in managing transactional finance processes, working with stakeholders, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Experience in financial processing and reconciliations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (SAP or Agresso preferred).
* Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Experience working in a finance role within a public sector or local government environment (desirable but not essential).
