Public Health Consultant - Older People, Mental Health & Learning Disabilities
Location: Hybrid
Contract Type: 3-6 months
Rate: £900 per day (umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for older people, individuals with learning disabilities, and promote public mental health.
2. Directly manage key personnel including the Senior Partnership Manager for Falls Prevention and the Suicide Prevention Lead Officer.
3. Lead public health contributions to the Adult Social Care Directorate, providing specialist knowledge on research, innovative models, and program evaluation.
4. Work at a population level, integrating care and prevention services. Commission and coordinate efforts with partner organizations to improve health outcomes.
5. Lead or contribute to the management of services and budgets related to health improvement, ensuring alignment with local authority duties to promote resident health.
6. Promote evidence-based interventions that improve both population and planetary health, using research to inform decisions and influence health policy.
Requirements:
1. Must be on the General Medical Council (GMC) / General Dental Council (GDC) or the UK Public Health (Specialist) Register, with a license to practice.
2. Proven experience in senior-level public health roles, especially within the areas of older people’s health, mental health, or learning disabilities.
3. Experience managing and influencing strategic health projects and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
4. Local government experience.
