South East Dance is looking for a Building & Sustainability Manager to manage The Dance Space efficiently, effectively, and safely and lead on our environmental sustainability work, as part of our small, friendly staff team.
The Dance Space is Brighton’s only purpose-built dance building. With three dance studios, one of which converts into a 123 seat performance space, alongside office and meeting spaces, The Dance Space is a place where dance artists and people from all sorts of different backgrounds can explore dance on an equal basis. The building has been built to be fully accessible and to BREEAM excellent environmental standards, and we aim to enhance these features in the way we run our programmes and operate the building. This job offers a great opportunity to hone and develop your building and operational management skills and make your own contribution to environmental responsibility in our vibrant and welcoming dance space.
The Building & Sustainability Manager has lead responsibility for the management and operation of The Dance Space and takes the lead on our environmental responsibility work.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. Ensuring the efficient, economic, and environmentally sustainable management and use of The Dance Space.
2. Ensuring the building and the way it is managed and run is safe and legally compliant.
3. Being a key point of contact for all building users, contractors, and suppliers.
4. Ensuring that South East Dance’s activities in and outside the building are sensitive to the needs of other Circus Street residents, businesses, and visitors.
5. Managing the building in a way that contributes to our vision of The Dance Space being a place that welcomes everybody on an equal basis.
Key External Relationships:
Contractors, suppliers, TDS tenants, Savills – the Circus Street Estate Management Company – and other occupants of the Circus Street site.
