Job overview
A 1-year fixed-term, part-time position has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to work with the upper GI and oncology service. This well-established post offers opportunities to further develop the service. The successful applicant will be a source of clinical expertise for Dietetic colleagues and will actively contribute to the training of student Dietitians and the supervision of junior staff.
Main duties of the job
As an integral part of the Upper GI Oncology Multidisciplinary Team of Specialist Nurses and Consultants, there will be exciting opportunities to be part of new developments across the division. The post will provide dietetic input to acute oncology and surgical inpatients. The post holder will join a team of 17 full and part-time Dietitians. The department is committed to providing a quality service, promoting evidence-based practice, audit, and CPD. There are opportunities for training and development and clinical supervision together with regular journal clubs and study sessions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Person specification
Education and qualifications:
* Health & Care Professions Council (UK) Registered Dietitian.
* Postgraduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. PENG Course.
Knowledge:
* Knowledge of appropriate dietetic treatment of patients with upper GI, ICU, and Nutrition Team patients.
* Sound knowledge of current dietetic issues relating to oncology.
* Appreciation of CPD.
* Knowledge & understanding of clinical governance and risk management and relevance to dietetics.
* Experience of working with upper GI cancer patients.
* Experience of working as part of a Nutrition team providing IV nutrition for patients.
Experience:
* Post-registration clinical experience. This must include substantive experience in oncology and experience of IV Nutrition support.
* Involvement in relevant specialist interest groups.
* Experience of conducting audit and/or research, including the ability to analyse and interpret statistics.
* Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Experience of training student dietitians/other HCPs.
* Experience of educating/training and presenting to patient groups and staff.
* Critical appraisal skills i.e. clinical and professional documents.
